Hello Kim,

Thanks so much for contacting me! Before we both get our hopes up too much can you give me some more information?

I have reason to believe my Joseph's daughter Clarissa A. J. Minshew was called Sarah. She was listed as Clarissa in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 Alabama census records, living with her parents. Her family moved to Texas I believe between 1872 and 1875. In 1880 they are living in Wood Co., TX, Clarissa is single and listed as Sarah and she is living with her brother William R. Minshew who is listed as the head. Her mother, another unmarried sister, a niece and nephew are living in that household and 4 married brothers are living nearby with their families. I haven't figured out if Clarissa married or if she died before the 1900 census as I can find no record of her at all after 1880.

With all the errors I've seen in census records, however, and considering that's the only evidence I have for Clarissa, I remain open minded. Can you tell me what concrete evidence you have regarding your Clara Jane? Even if she's not my Joseph's daughter I may be able to help you find her family; I'm very interested to say the least.
