My second great grandparents David CRAVEN (1806-1880) and Catherine HART (1822-1882) lived in Independence, Washington, County between about 1842 when their daughter Mary Ann CRAVEN was born and at least until about 1845 when their son, John J. CRAVEN was born. The couple was married on 17 April 1837 in Matamoros, Mexico and lived in Donaldsonville, Ascension Parish, LA prior to living in Independence. David was a saddler by trade. Catherine was a devote Catholic and David was either Catholic or supportive of his wife's religion. I would expect that their children were baptized into the catholic faith. Catherine was born in Ireland and I am not sure of David's birthplace. Various documentation has him being born in NY, NJ and PA. My family bible has his birthplace as London, England on 06 Feb 1806. I would appreciate any information regarding this family. Richard Crowe Escondido, CA 760-749-2270 |
