Court Court (sic) August Terms 1850
The Honorable William A. Higgins, Chief Justice & Co.
Your petitioner Dulcebella Crawford widow and what of Jas. M. Crawford deceased would respectfully represent unto your honor that her late husband the said Jas. M. Crawford now deceased departed this life some time in the year 1845, leaving your petitioner (his widow two children and a grand child being on ????). Your petitioner would further represent that said Crawford also and ???? of considerable property real and personal which said property is subject to distribution among said heirs. In view of the forgoing premises your petitioner prays your honor to appoint her admr. of the Estate of said ???? Crawford deceased and that such proceedings be said to give notice of this petitioner as the law in each case requires and as in duty.

Petition of Mrs. Crawford for Letters Ordered by the Court that Mrs. Dulcebel1a Crawford be and she is hereby appointed administratrix of the Estate of James M. Crawford and that ???? of administration be opened to her upon her ?????? and taking
the oath required by law.

Know all men by these presents that Dulcebella Crawford as Principal and James R King and???? And firmly bound unto the Chief Justice of the County of Washington the sum of three thousand and thirty dollars, for the payment of which well and truly to be made unto the said Chief Justice we being ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators jointly and severally???? by these presents.
Signed with our hands and sealed with our seals; these seals being ???? the 26th day of August AD 1850
The condition of this obligation is such that whereas the ??? being Dulcebe11a Crawford, has been appointed by the Chief Justice of the County of Washington, Administratrix of the Estate of James M. Crawford deceased. Now if the said Dulcebella Crawford shall well and truly perform all the duties required of him (sic) under said appointment, then this obligation shall be null and void; otherwise to remain of full force and effect.

Before me James R Heinz an acting Justice of the peace in and for said County personally came and appends Hugh Wilson Williams and Cunningham and Robert H. Flannikin appraisers appointed by the County Court of the aforesaid County Co. appraised the property belonging to the Estate of James M. Crawford Dec’d who being duly qualified and swor upon this oath do say that the foregoing is a just and true valuation of this same according to the best of their knowledge and belief.

Ordered by this Court that the Inventory this day filed by the administratrix be approved filed and ordered of record.

In the Probate Court
To the W. A. Higgins Chief Justice of said county the Petition of Dulcebella Crawford Administratrix of the Estate of James M. Crawford deceased respectfully represents that since her appointment by your honor’s court she has had a first & true inventory of the Estate of said James made out & returned to your
honor’s court. She further represents that she knows of least one debt due to the said Estate to wit a debt due by Wilson Wells of about $35.00 and one debt due by?? on account of said Estate to wit a debt due to Atkinson of about $35.
Your petitioner prays your honor to set aside for her homestead one years support 5 Cows & ???? large mare the household & farming utensils & such other allowance as by law she is entitled.
Petitioner further shows that all the property belonging to said EState was acquired by said James and your petitioner his wife in Texas and that the same is community property. She further shows Gabrella Dunkin wife of B. P. Dunkin of said County & Eliza Crawford are the only living children of said James & your petitioner and that Allis Blake the only daughter of Sophronna Blake now deceased who was the daughter of said James is the only surviving child of a dead child.
Now although your petitioner is advised & believes that she is entitled to one half of all the remaining Estate of the ??? a part the fraction before ???? for ??? she is willing & duly prays for one fifth part thereof.
Whereupon your petitioner believing it to the advantage of the aforesaid heirs to have said ??? prays for citation and that your honor set apart for his Homestead and other property as above prayed for the debt due by Wills. to pay Atkinson which she prays him to retain for that purpose. And that item the remaining estate be divided & partitioned into five equal parts one for your petitioner one for the said Gabrella Dunkin one for said Eiza Crawford one for said Sarah Ann Crawford & one for said Allis Blake. She further shows that there is no necessity for a further account there being no debts to collect or settel & no ,,”,” expenses except that of this honorable Court wherefore she also prays for a publication by posting up notice & for a final settlement & discharge.
Petitioner further represents that said Eliza, Sara Ann & Allis are minors. Wherefore she prays for a Guardian ad litem for them. And for ???? regretable belief & as ??? duly she will ???? ?????? for Partitjoning

In the matter of the Estate of James M. Crawford
Be it remembered that on this 301h day of December 1850 came in to be heard this petition of Dulcebella Crawford Admrx of said Estate of foregoing that the homestead & re be set apart to her for the use of herself & minor children for partition of the remaining of said Estate among the heirs of said James M. Crawford and it appraising by this inventory of said Estate that there is no longer ????? ..to said Estate except the one hundred acres on which said deceased resided untill his death. It is therefore ordered adjudged and decreed that the same be set apart for the said Dulcebella aforesaid.
It is further ordered that one Hundred & fifty Bushels mentioned in the inventory be set apart to this said Dulcebella as aforesaid and that the note on Wills be set apart as prayed for and it is appearing to the Satisfaction of the Court that the persons mentioned in said petition are the only heirs of the deceased & that they are entitled to equal parts & that the partitioned claims and prayed for by said Dulcebella being less than said she is entitled to and it is appearing to the court that all of the above named heirs have been
duly cited to appear and that said Eliza and Sarah Crawford and Allis Blake are minors its is therefore ordered that B. Gilliespie and he is duly appointed Guardian ad litim & the said Guardian having seen a fully undertood the matters and things above set forth & showing no good cause to the contrary. It is therefore ordered adjudged and decreed that all the remaining property be divided and partitioned among the said heirs of James M. Crawford & the said Dulcebella Crawford that is to say that after the homestead & the com mentioned is taken of the balance shall be divided into five equal parts of which shall go to said Dulcebella and to Gabrella Duncan wife of B. P. Duncan and to Eliza Crawford and to Sarah Crawford and to Allis Blake & that John W. Alcorn, Edwin McNuse & William B. Lipscomb be and they are duly appointed commissioners to divided & partition the same as aforesaid and make your report to the court as the next term of this court.

Your petitioner Dulcebella Crawford administratrix of James M. Crawford deceased repreprents to the chief justice of Washington that the commissions heretofore appointed to make partition of the Estate of James M. Crawford deceased amongst the heirs have been unable to make a full partition of an account of the Cattle & hogs not having been collected. She prays therefore that the matter may be opened to them again to complete the division and when the same to count at the next term thereof and the cause be continued untill then as in duty & Filed 3m March 1857 Sam Sisk Clerk Shepard & Shepard Attys.

Sarah A. Crawfords portion amounts to 45 dollars & 75 cents over & above a fifth part.

Allice S. Blake portion $415 dollars amounts to 164 dollars 23 cts under and short of a fifth part.
Mrs. Crawford (Widow of deceased) portion ($492.25) amounts to (97) ninety seven dollars ?? ??? a fifth part.
The three above first named and apportioned heirs have had agreed (this being of age) to make up the deficiencies on the portions of the last two named heirs in such manner as the court may order & direct.

Be it rememberd that in this day John H. Allcorn, W. F. Hunt & W. B. Libscomb Commissioners appointed by this Court made their return & report of partition duly certified under oath which having been seen inspected & fully understood by the court it is therefore ordered adjudged and decreed that the ???? ...be in all things ???? .And it is further ordered and decreed that all the right title interest & claim of Dulcebella Crawford, Gabriella Duncan, Sarah Crawford, and Allice Blake be divested & that Eliza Crawford be & she is hereby fully invested & that Eliza Crawford with all the right title contract and claim. that heretofore was in the said Dulcebella Gabrela,Sarah & Allice and all the right title interest claim & demand that James M. Crawford in his life time had to a negro woman named Patsy, who formed a part of said Estate, And it is further ordered & decread that alll the right title interest and claim of Dulcebella Crawford Eliza Crawford Sarah Crawford & Allice Blake be divested and that Gabrella Duncan be and she
is hereby fully invested with all the rights title interest and claim that heretofore was in the said Dulcebella Sarah Crawford Eliza Crawford & Allice Blake and all the rights title interest & claim that James M. Crawford in his life time had to a negro girl named Daphne who formed a part of said Estate.
And it is further ordered and decreed by the court as the right title interest & claims of Dulcebella Crawford Gabrella Duncan Eliza Crawford and Allice Blake be divested and that Sarah A. Crawford be & she is hereby fully invested with all the rights title interest & claim that heretofore was in the said Dulcebella Crawford Gabrella Duncan Eliza Crawford & Allis Blake and all the right title interest & claim that James M. Crawford in his lifetime had to a negro woman Martha who formed a part of said Estate.
And it is further ordered and decreed by this court all the right title interest & claim of Dulcebella Crawford Gabrella Duncan Eliza Crawford & Sarah Crawford be divested & that Allice Blake be ?? is hereby fully invested with all the right title interest & claim that heretofore was in the said Dulcebella Crawford Gabrella Duncan Eliza Crawford & Sarah Crawford and all the right title interest & claim & demand that James M. Crawford in his lifetime had to a negro boy Bill who formed part of said Estate.
And it is further ordered adjudged and decreed that the said Eliza Crawford within two years from this date pay to said Dulcebella Crawford & Allice Blake the sum of one hundred and seventy dollars & seventy five cents with interest from date and that said negro woman Patsy & her increase stand pledged as a mortgage for the same.
And it is further ordered adjudged & decreed that the said Gabrella Duncan with two years form this date pay to said Dulcebella Crawford & Allice Blake the sum of forty five dollars and seventy five cents with interest from date and that said negro girl Daphne & her increase stand pledged as a mortgage for the same.
And it is further ordered adjudged and decreed that Sarah A. Crawford with two years from this date pay to Dulcebella Crawford & Allice Blake the sum of forty five dollars & seventy five cents with interest from date and that said negro woman Martha & her increase stand pledged as a mortgage for the same.
And it is further appearing to the satisfaction of this court the Dulcebella Crawford had fully administered all the Estate that was of the late of James M. Crawford and ??? over and ??? to th e children for ??? ???
It is therefore ordered and decreed that she is acquitted & discharged from each of the aforesaid heirs for the same & that each of the aforesaid heirs stands charged with one fifth part of the remaining costs for which ???? ????
