One 30, Other 60
Brenham, Tex., Aug. 18. - A.W. Hodde, 30, a white lawyer and graduate of the Texas university, was seized in his office today by four armed men. He was taken to an automobile, driven about four miles from town, whipped, and tarred. Hodde, when he returned to Brenham, later said his abductors were strangers, who told him to leave town. He has a wife and baby. He was warned about a month ago but paid no heed.
Joe B. Guybon, 60, white, is in a serious condition following a beating and tarring. He was a deputy sheriff and constable. About the middle of June he was told to leave Brenham, did so, but returned ten days later. Guybon said strangers kidnaped him.
