I saw this exact same posting on the USGenWeb Travis Co. Archive from Sept. 1997. Have you not found anything in all that time? Let's see if I can give you a little bit of help. If you have already found this information, then I will highly recommend that you include all that you know about these folks when you post again.
Here are some of the burial records from Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Travis Co.
Theilau, Herman W. Jan 2, 1860 June 25, 1901 2
Theilau, Wilhelmina 1832 Oct 2, 1884 2
Theilau, R. L. Mar 30, 1863 Dec 27, 1902 4
I guess than R.L. must be a junior, as it looks like he's about the same age as Herman. Would be interested to know what happened that the boys died within 6 months of each other.
There is also an Esser in Oakwood:
Esser, Rudolph S. Dec 10, 1866 May 7, 1896 1

The last name is obviously tricky for enumerators. I finally found them, though. I won't post all the census details, as I'm not sure you don't already have this. If you do not have it, post a reply and I will transcribe it all.
In 1880 (indexed as Thielan) they are in Fayette Co. TX. Rudolph is a schoolteacher, 52, Ger-Ger-Ger, Wilhelmina is 46, Ger-Ger-Ger and the kids Herman, 19, Clara 13, Anna, 6. All children b. in TX. Herman is a clerk. Don't know where Rudolph Jr. was.
1870 (indexed as Theilow) they are in Indianola, Calhoun Co. TX. Rudolph,47, has a boarding house. He's checked as a male citizen of the US over 21, but I'm not sure they really meant he was naturalized. He and Wilhelmina, 38, b. Prussia. Herman is 9, Rudolph is 7, Clara is 4 and Emil is 1.
I found a listing in Texas Marriages 1814-1909 of a marriage between Rudolph Van Thielan and Wilhelmina Meyers 20 Apr. 1960 in Calhoun Co. Are you sure about her last name? Could she have been married before?
Haven't found them in 1860.
Herman in 1900 is in McLennan Co. with his wife Clara (b. Apr. 1866), and daughters Lois, 14 (b. March 1886), and Pauline, 1, (b. Mar 1899). He's a cotton buyer.
Rudolph (indexed under Thielan) in 1900 is in Austin, Travis Co. TX. He's b. Mar 1863, maar 10 year, wife Lizzie, Ger-Ger-Ger, b. Feb. 1870 (immigrated 1878), Hazel K., b. June 1890. Also in household is Rudolph's sister-in-law (Lizzie's sister) Mary Birnstiel [sic], b. Aug. 1878 in TX. They lived at 1009 E. 9th St. in Austin.
I found Austin City directory listings for them:
1887-88, clerk, Stein & Co. residence: 601 W. 14th corner of Nueces
1889-90 clerk, Harrell & Harlan, same residence
1891-92, clerk, H. P. Haldeman, residence: 907 Red River.
Clara, Annie and Herman are also listed in the Austin city directory 1887-1888. In 1890-93, Herman is in Waco.
Found a listing for Clara Thielaw marrying a T.W. Beaumont in Austin, Travis Co. in 1889. I followed them a long ways. In 1900 they are in Montgomery Co., Tennessee with their children. T.W. is b. TN; name is Thomas. There's a bit of a story from 1910 onward for them. If you are interested let me know and I will fill in those blanks. But Thomas and Clara have at 6 children; those identifiable are Lucy E. b. Sep. 1891, Fletcher Albert, b. Sept. 1893, Watkins, b. Sept. 1896, Rudolph, b. Feb. 1899, and Mike N., b. 1901. Other child unknown, probably after Mike. In 1910 Clara is in Hickman, Kentucky. Mike serves in the Navy in WWI (according to the 1920 census; he's in Norfolk, VA).
Well, that should give you something to go on. Hope so. I'm no relation, just a volunteer.
