Since I initially posted that inquiry, the Genealogy group in Navarro County sent me a copy of an article that appeared in the Navarro Newspaper. The paragraph they sent me was as follows:

"We forgot to notice in our last issue that Mr. Ed Abbey, son of Col. J. W. Abbey, who we announced as having been shot by Mr. Paige, his brother-in-law died in ten minutes after he was shot. He snapped all the caps of his six shooter at Mr. Paige after receiving the death wound. Mr. Paige was afterwards examined before Justice Clements, and held to bail in the sum of $800. (Mar 3 1860)"

It was very interesting to read that paragraph; it makes you wonder what they were fighting over?

You mentioned that Edward Abbey was married to Martha Louise Sherrell. I also received that information from the Genealogy group. It appears they were married in July 1856. I also have information that they had a son called, Leonidar. Do you have this information also? Is there anything you know about their son? If Martha remarried did she have other children? Any information you could share would be greatly appreicated. My tie to Edward Abbey is really through his younger brother James "Jimmy" D. Abbey. He is the 2nd great grandfather of my husband.
