This is a message to anyone who has posted family tree data relative to Richard Barfield and wife Mary Evans. This Richard Barfield had a will, dated 1728, of which I have a copy, and he has listed in that will the following children:
Richard, William Henry, Solomon, Thomas, James, and Barsheba. He makes reference possibly to a daughte who died when he appoints Wm. More as executor of his will. I have a copy of a deed which transferred a plot of land to Wm. More, as it says: ". . . with love to our son-in-law." (At least that is my recollection of the document.)
He was married to Mary Evans, who had a distinctive career while in Virginia, in Nansemond County. They are listed in the 1704 Rent Rolls of Virginia, though they were probably in Bertie County, NC at that time.
The second Richard Barfield, will dated 1754, of which I have a copy, named as chldren: Ann Barfield (in the will he spelled it "A"), Henry Barfield, Jesse Barfield, Lebeth Barfield, Catherine Barfield Taler, Solomon Barfield, and Mary Barfield, who married Anthony Jones. I have a copy of their Marriage Bond.
Please believe me when I assure you that even the Latter-Day Saints organization has all the Barfield chldren lumped under one father, Richard Barfield, husband of Mary Evans.
An married William Grady, and I am a direct descendant of their union through son John Grady, who was honored in Duplin County, NC, by a large stone bearing John's name, his wife's, and all their children.
