Hi Cheryl,
FamilySearch has the Texas deathcertificates 1890-1973. Texas enacted the law on death certificates in 1903, but the law wasn't strictly enforced until the late 20s early 30s. Don't be surprised if there is no DC for John Sr. I couldn't find one at FS.

I did find John Jr's on Family Search. You ust register to see the actualy image, but registration is free. Here's the link to John Jr. (and they massacred the name in the trancription process!):

Have you checked for an obit for John? A birth certificate for John Jr? How about cemetery records? Are you sure John Sr. died in Midland? He might have just been buried there, since Jr. was already buried there. As for Stella's remarriage, think about checking New Mexico; Midland is just about 60-90 miles from the NM stateline.

Don't give up; new stuff comes online all the time!

Good luck,
