Donie is an interesting little town. I worked in the oil patch around it for many years. There is also a cemetery next door to the methodist church there. five or six of my unknown relatives are buried there and I never knew it until I began internet search of my long lost relatives. My father's grandfather is buried there. Nathan A Cooper, and several of his children. They are right on the main road thru the cemetery, who knows what one may find at Donie.

Around the bend on the old Fairfield to Houston road lies a huge complex built by Anadarko Petroleum Co. I used to work for them but not in this area. Across the street from their plant is a well I did cause to be drilled by another oil company. It is a stone's throw from my ancestors. guess I was to busy trying to make a buck to stop and look around me.

Found most of my relatives on dad's side, but am still looking for his father Hugh Jackson Cooper born august 1986 in Donie. He was a dallas policeman in 1910 although the dallas police historical dept cannot confirm that for me. He is listed on the Texas adjudant report as a Texas Railroad Ranger in 1922 out of Tyler, Tx. I can't find any trace of him beyond that but I know he was still alive in the 1950's. I have never laid eyes on my own grandfather. I would like to know his final resting place. He married the girl next door at their homes in Freestone, which is in Freestone Co. The family split up, and his wife Laura took the family to Freestone, then Navarro Co, and finally to Limestone Co.

Hope you find something of interest near Donie as I finally did, and anyone who can help me find more info on Hugh Jackson aka hughie jackson cooper, I appreciate the help.
