Hi Doris, Good to hear from you. My line is thru Candascy Massengale Angermiller, Dora Angermiller Humphries, Me. Our family legends that were written by several of the girls of William John state that his father married a "basket woman" from New Orleans and took her home to North Carolina. He could not adjust to being away from Army so he returned to his unit and was killed in 1812. The family down here have several looking for names but have not proven any theories. "Basket Woman" was supposedly what the soldiers in New Orleans called the French mail order brides and this makes sense as we have all been told we had some French blood in us. Two of the girls had been to Clayton Library in Houston and found what they considered a clue but I haven't been able to put my finger on their notes at the moment. Will get back in touch when I find it. Let me know more about the reunion.
We had ours in Baytown last Sept.
