The tombstone reads A. D. McDonald, May 1, 1909-Feb 2, 1915, son of Mr. & Mrs. A. W. McDonald.

Since posting, I found online a brief history of Cordele which is part of the Sidney R. Weisiger collection at the Victoria Regional History Center. It says the cemetery is is in section 4, block 3 of the I.& G.N.R.R. survey. Some of the names of others buried are Felts, Smith, Christ, Recains, McNeil, Walker, Glick, Beauregard, etc.

In the 1960s a local woman contacted my mother and her siblings about cattle being allowed to roam over the cemetery. I believe one of my uncles (a judge) contacted the county commissioners reminding them of the Texas laws governing cemetery preservation and apparently some steps were taken to protect it. It was at that time my uncle had the current marker placed.

The McDonalds moved to Dickens County in 1922. My aunt and an uncle visited the area in 1996 and I believe found it accessible at that time.
