The first legislature of the Republic of Texas met in Columbia (West Columbia) on October 3, 1836. One of the representatives was Samuel A. White of Jackson. I can't find any written information on him on the internet as to where he was born and what happened to him. We have just completed a park called Capitol of Texas Park - A Walk through the Birth of Texas and one of the monuments lists all the Representatives. Just trying to find a descendant of this man to let them know about the park.
