Robert IRWIN/ERWIN was born abt. 1740 or later in SC, he and family are listed in Shelby Co. TX, known as Teneha 1835 Tax list with children Martha, Charles, Sarah, John and wife Sarah.
Robert IRWIN/ERWIN died before 1839 or 1839 as he is listed as deced on the Tax list of Houston Co. TX with Henry Masters (son in law) as admin. of his estate. I am gathering that the spelling of IRWIN changed at this time to ERWIN as the children are listed as ERWIN.
The estate of Robert IRWIN/ERWIN was distributed by Henry MASTERS spouse to Nancy ERWIN, to the other children and spouses: Sarah ERWIN spouse William J. HINTON, Charles ERWIN doesn't state his spouse, James M. McKELVEY spouse Eleanor ERWIN, James LATHAM spouse Margaret ERWIN, John ERWIN doesn't state spouse, Jane RICE former Jane ERWIN to Wyat LANE, states that Jane is spouse of James RICE.
Wife Sarah to Robert is not mentioned and Martha dau of Robert IRWIN/ERWIN & Sarah is not mention, thought they both may have passed away before the settlement of the estate. The land was in Anderson Co. TX.
Note for Wyat LANE: I believe he is the father to Lorenda LANE who married Charles Fred ERWIN son of John ERWIN and Elizabeth Ann ROOK.
Jane ERWIN RICE I am having problems finding her and when I thought I had found her and James RICE, it turned out to be the wrong Jane, she was Jane SMITH...
I found on the Houston Co. TX 1850 census that there is a Jane and Clinton A. RICE, but I cannot find anything before or after 1850 to explain who they are and if this Jane could be Jane IRWIN/ERWIN.
There are several out there that believe Robert ERWIN is my line that is married to Sarah McCallister...I cannot agree with that finding, because it just does not compute with what I find.
I hope there is someone out there that may be looking for the same IRWIN/ERWIN'S, that maybe we can find the pieces of the puzzle....
Your help is most appreciated...Thank You, Nelda Erwin Conant
