Jacob Thomas (b.1800, NC) is in Henderson Co., 1870 and 1880. He was in Erath Co., in 1860. By the time he gets to Henderson both wives are dead, and so is his son Alford Sylvester, who fought for the Confederacy. Alford left a widow, Aramintha (Benge) and five daughters: Mary E. (abt 1855); Sarah A. (abt 1856); Adeline Rebecca Thomas (1858); Eliza J. (1861), and Martha A. (1863). Adeline m. Abel Matthew Edwards 1882; Eliza J. m. John Frentress 1882. Not sure on the other girls, but Mary may have married a Hall, and Sarah may have m. a Freeman. Alford is the bro to my GG GM, Elizabeth Eveline Thomas, who married William B. Skates, Russell Co., Ala. 1839 and moved to Henderson, as a widow in 1880 to join her father Jacob. Would love contact with descendants. leonard@mccown.org
