Three Brothers Joseph Daniel, Benjamin Franklin, and James Curtis Cady all lived in Hays county. JD had seven children but only one survived to 1920 and I have found no Children. BF had no children of his own, but did raise several of his wife's children. Both JD and BF were listed in 1880 as disabled. James Curtis Cady had learned to be a well driller and moved to NM Territory in 1888. Family verbal history has James Curtis Cady as a Texas Ranger. He was in the 1st Texas Mounted Rifles 1861-1862 which was a typical volunteer unit known as "Rangers" prior to 1879. He also served in the 17th Texas Infantry 1862-1865. The family was engaged in Cattle raising, by some accounts. |
