Do you know when and where sons David and Willis died, or younger sons Archie and Ernest? Their death certificates should show the names of their parents, including maiden name of their mother. Surely on one of those records the informant would have that information.
1920 census shows Archie 23, single living with his married sister Myrtle, her husband J.A. Evans and three children in Rockwall Co, TX. By 1930 Myrtle and her family are in Lamar Co, TX, but no Archie.
1900 census shows David A. owned a mortgaged farm, I would check land records, see if he sold his land, or did his heirs sign off to give clear title to the buyer? If Mary lived for a while the land might not sell for a few years, be sure to check later, too.
TX state archives in Austin has a TX state wide death index 1903-1940, they should be able to tell you when and where David died. There is the possibility he died and Mary remarried. But, sooner or later David's heirs will have to sign off to give that clear title. I love the land records, they do talk to us -- sometimes. (^_^)
This looks like Archie from SSDI, he does not show up on TX Dth Idx online, so he must have died elsewhere.
Mason, Archie, b 10 Jun 1895; d Jan 1965; last residence Clarksville, Red River Co, TX: SS card obtained in LA.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
