Article from the 'Confederate Veteran' mag., dated August, 1908, p.423.
PROSPERITY IN TEXAS- A glowing account of the prosperity of Fisher Co., Tex., comes from R.M. McMULLIN, of Rotan, who says: " This ia a new county and has the finest crop that ever grew out of the grounds. Rotan is the terminus of the the Texas Central Railroad, 260 miles west of Waco, and has 2,000 inhabitants. The town is a year old, has an $18,000. hotel, two brick banks, two churches, two depots, passenger and freight and an $18,000. brick school building under construction. Reunion picnic was held on the 9TH, -11TH of July, with a barbecue of 20 beeves, shows, automobile and horse races."
