Alice, thank you so much for your reply. I have just received a copy of Harve C. Evans WW1 record which gave me the info about the unit he served in. I previously contacted the secretary at the cemetery where he is buried and was told he is buried where those other Evanses are buried, but I do not think they are in our family. The caretaker located Harve's grave, according to their map, and said he does not have a marker, but it is possible one may be located at another location in the cemetery and he would keep that in mind and let me know if one is ever found.
I was and continue to be concerned that he was a veteran with an unmarked grave.
Now I am confident from the info you sent me that there was a government type marker at his grave when the Howard County book was prepared. Otherwise, he would not have been listed and probably only a government marker would have listed the Company he served in.
I cannot thank you enough for sending me that info. I plan to contact the cemetery again to let them know that Harve Evans did have a marker at his grave at one time.
