You probably know this by now but thought others might want to know also

No, there is no Genealogy Society in DeWitt County TX or at least not when I lived there from 1995 to 2002.

I lived there 7 years and most of the people are interested in the Wild Flower Society == especially after Lady Bird Johnson paid a visit to Cuero one year. People come from all over the world for the flower trails.

The Library there does have some of the newspapers on micro film. If you are interested in the old ones you have to contact the newspaper == The Cuero Record.

I never had the time to go to the newspaper and ask to research but WAS told that you could do that.

The Victoria Advocate Newspaper located in Victoria TX has a lady that writes a Genealogy Column and answers your questions that you submit. Her name is Martha Jones and the name of her column is relatively Speaking.

I have been reading some of your posts and believe we may be related through our ASHMORES. It is believed that my great great grandmother was Mary Ann Ellen Ashmore (born about 1828 in Pickens AL) married James K. Hemphill. Their daughter, Emily Jane Hemphill was my great grandmother.

I would be interested in exchanging if you are interested.
