Hi Judy, and thanks for the reply. I did find some info on Oak Cliff College, including a picture. Also found an annual listed at the library but when checked they found Mabel Vaughan not listed in 1895.
Mabel [Mabelle} E Vaughan supposedly born Jan 1882 Dallas Texas- but info varies on Census and records. She listed she was born in Mo on later records- but nothing found.
I believe her parents to be William Love Vaughan 1848 Va & Mrs. Josephine M Spriggs Hagy [Vaughan]1844 Va- married 1879 Dallas texas. [Found on 1880 Dallas Census with Josephine sister Lutie & Adam Wade Nowlin family] I found listing of W L Vaughan on numerous Methodist [Supt] info in Dallas Morning News. Also the couple intertained at their residence on Grand Ave & Tenth. Josephine died Dec 1891 of Brights disease with service at St Mark Methodist Church. William is found listed in Evangalism Work after Josephines death.
Found Mabel Vaughan listed March 1897 living at Girls Co-operative Home in Dallas 223 Ross ave.[fore runner of YWCA] -she was in a Christian Temperance Program playing violin. She attended Woodrow School of Elocution- gave address at 1912 Graduation [Mrs. J M England]
William returned to Chesterfield Va about 1900- married Nettie Vaughan and on 1930 Census there 82. I have tried to find obit for him to see if Mabel listed-
I now hope to find any clipping in 1882- 1900 Dallas newspaper listing Mabel with parents.
And I really appreciate info shared to help find Mabels parents- Thank You, Doris
