My mother's family lived in Comanche Co. and Desdemona from about 1915 to 1929. Her parents were Green Berry Williams and Clemmie May Williams. Green Berry's mother Sarah/Sally Estes was buried in the Proctor Cemetery in 1915 and his father Leander was buried there in 1923. My mother was Inez Williams, born Sept 5, 1912. All the older children attended the Jake Hammon School in the 1920's. Lena Williams, her younger sister born in 1919, went to first and second grade there. Her brother Guy Williams stayed behind in 1929 to finish high school when the family moved south. The problem is the family does not appear on the 1920 Census for Eastland or Comanche County. Part of the time they lived in the Desdemona Oil Field Camp, and other times in Proctor and DeLeon. Does anyone have any records from the school or any information about the family?
