James Welch, was born abt. 1785 in South Carolina and Martha Graham [Grayham] Welch was born abt. 1795 in South Carolina. The couple had the following children; Harriett Welch-Buys (born abt.1817-1820 in SC or GA), William Welch (born 1823-1825 in SC or GA), Mary Ann Welch-Graham (born 1824-1825 in SC or GA), John Jackson Welch (born 1827-1830 in GA or AL), Charles Pinkney Welch (born 1831-1833 in GA), Charlotte T. Welch-Speake (born 1836-1840 in GA or AL), Peter Edward Welch (born 1834-1837 in GA or AL) and Mark L. Welch (born 1834-1837 in GA).
Mark L. Welch and Elizabeth Thornton were married Dec. 24, 1857 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Elizabeth Thornton was born about 1836 in Georgia. I am not sure who Elizabeth Thorntonís parents were. Elizabeth and Mark L. Welsh had the following children; William T. Welch, James Welch, Dow ? Welch, and Mary [Mary Elizabeth aka Mollie] Welch.
M.E. Welch [Mary Elizabeth Welch aka Mollie] and Joseph C. Williams were married March 11, 1885 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Mary Elizabeth Welch was born near Alexander City, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Her death certificate says Aug. 6, 1862, but census information would put her birth closer to the year 1869. Mary Elizabeth Welch Williams died July 17, 1946 in Eastland County, Texas, but was a resident of Comanche County, Texas for 40 years. Joseph Calvin Williams was born Nov. 27, 1862 in Warm Springs, Meriwether County, Georgia. He died March 6, 1946, in DeLeon, Comanche County, Texas. He was the son of Joseph C. Williams and Hulda Catherine White.
Mary Elizabeth Welch Williams and Joseph Calvin Williams [Jr] had the following children; Jesse Hood Williams, Claude L. Williams, Hulda E.Williams, Maggie L. Williams, William M.Williams, Mollie Thornton Williams, Joseph C. Williams, Dannie E. Williams. All their children were born in Alabama, probably in Tallapoosa County. This family migrated to the Robinson Springs area, Comanche County, Texas in 1906.
This information on the Williams/White line in not proven:
Joseph C. Williams (father of Joseph Calvin Williams) was born about 1834, in Alabama and died in 1862. I believe that Joseph Williams- private, enlisted March 4, 1862. Co. F. 41st Infantry Regiment, Georgia and died at Lauderdale Springs Hospital in Mississippi, June 13, 1862. Buried in Lauderdale Springs CSA Cemetery in Mississippi, Lauderdale County. Joseph Calvin Williams mother, Hulda Catherine White, was born between 1820-1827 in South Carolina. I believe that Joseph C. Williams and Hulda Catherine White were married in Talbot County, Georgia, on March 21, 1858.
