I'm attempting to research my great grandparents, John Mundon Nelson (b 1/14/1847 Tennessee; d 12/13/1934 Bangs, Brown, Texas) and Linnie Holcomb (b 11/13/1881 Texas; d 11/10/1967 Brownwood, Brown, Texas). They married in Comanche County and lived there for many years. John is buried at Albin Cemetery in Comanche County next to his first wife Martha (1845-1899). I believe Martha's maiden name was Evans. John & Linnie had 8 children, and I know that John have several grown children from his first marriage when he married my great grandmother. I have no other information on them, other than information I have gleaned from the 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 census, and an entry in the family bible stating that his fathers name was Matthew Nelson, and her fathers name was Sam Holcomb. Since they live for atleast 30 years, maybe someone has further information, so that I can go back further.

On a side note, John stated that he was a Civil War veteran on the 1930 census, but with no definite place of birth, I am having difficulty on those records. There are several John Nelsons or J. M. Nelsons, in the records, but I have no way of knowing which might be him.

If anyone can help, please let me know.
