I would like to contact anyone working on Christopher Stratton Crawley, born about 1815 Ireland. Mother and father born England.

My brother and I are in the process of helping restoring a small cemetery in a pasture in the Rock Bluff Community of Comanche Co., TX. Our great Uncle Frank Skaggs many years ago own the land that this cemetery set on. It has 74 graves in it and only 31 had marker. Uncle Frank went to this cemetery with pen and paper and made a map numbering the graves and putting names down on 29 of these graves. 14 graves he wrote unknown. Number 46 is C. C. Crawley.

He married Sophia Cates, 14 April 1842 in Hinds Co., MS

1850 Census shows him as Charles Crawley.
1860 Census shows he Christopher S. Crawley.
1870 Census. Can not find him this year
1880 Census Comanche Co., TX. C. S. Crawley is 65 year old born in Ireland, Physician. Living with the W. C. Croft family. Next door is W. H. Hall and wife S. J. Hall, she is 27 year old, born MS and father born Ireland. Living with them is P. Crawley he is 16 years old born MS and father born Ireland. He is brother-in-law. W. A. and wife S. J. Hall were members of the Rock Bluff Baptist Church.

This last year by the internet and family Bibles we have been able to give names and dates to 3 of the unknown. We have been able to identify and give dates to 3 of the 29.

We are having this years cemetery working Sat. May 3, 2003. Bring sandwich making, drinks and tools and come visit with us. Our goal is to have marker on all 74 graves.

My brother has made up a mold and he is making marker for the graves that no one is interested in. Our funeral director is putting the names and dates on a bronze marker and Jerry, my brother is mounting this to the cement marker. They really look nice. If any family member wants to put up a marker later that will be fine.

I have been taking the 1880, 1900, 1910, & 1920 census for the Rock Bluff area and researching the family names. We want history on the families. Jerry is taking the minutes from the Rock Bluff Baptist Church and working with them. We have a very bad copy of the minutes from Dec. 1879, when they church was chartered, to 1920. The probable is many pages are missing and some are very hard to read. I have traced this Christopher Stratton Crawley from Comanche Co., TX back to Simpson Co., MS and Hinds Co., MS.

I found an old query dated April 1999 from a C. W. Crawley researching this man. I guess he has changed email addresses because I can not get an answer from him. He states in his query that Christopher Stratton Crawley was born near Dundalk, Ireland.

I am using the Family tree maker (FTW) program for these families. Will share what I have collected. Thank you. Wanda Sparkman (281)495-0866
