Since you know when and where Elihu died, you can obtain a copy of his death certificate, which should show the names of his parents -- if the informant had that knowledge. Or, he filled out his own application for a Soc Sec card, and it should show the names of his parents, too. Once you have the name of his father, you can look for the family on the 1900 census, when Elihu would be about 8 yrs old. It is a good census, asks some questions not on other census records. You will pick up names of any siblings, and more family data. Then follow the family on the 1910 & 1920, too. Happy Hunting. |
