Baird Star Friday July 29, 1955 Wiley M. James Dies Tuesday Wylie M. James, 92, prominent rancher and resident of Baird since 1892, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Callahan County Hospital. Mr. James was born April 12, 1863 in Johnson County. He was a retired rancher having ranched in Johnson, Callahan, Taylor and Reagan counties and near Marlow, Okla. He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Wiley France James. He married Nancy Lula Lowe Nov. 13, 1887 in Mansfield, Tex. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral was held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Wylie Chapel with Lonnie Branam, minister of the Baird Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Ross Cemetery. Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. J. F. Boren of Abilene; two sons: J. H. James of Marlow, Okla.; W. France James of Loraine; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Robert James, Royal James, Billy James, John Eaton, James Eaton and Billy Hatchett. ----- I did not find Mrs. James' obituary (she also died in 1955) |
