Hello, Robin! I remember a James (Jim) Ellison whose father was a big Texas rancher & sent herds to the Kansas railroads. They later went to Arizona. Jim wrote stories about his times there, north of Globe, I think. If he was as good a cowboy as he was an author, he was a good one. I think his father was called Colonel Ellison. If they are possibly kin folks, I think you can find mention of them in Old Trail Drivers of Texas in most any library & of young Jim's stories in True West & Frontier Times. I never met Jim but I'm an ex cowboy, rodeo & ranch, & admired his style. I'm not certain of the exact dates on the TW & FT mags but think it may have been along in the nineties.(1990) Not much help but wish you much luck. Dean Guthery & Vaya con DIOS <deanlg@hotmail.com>
