Thanks for the information on that family. I was interested in seeing if there might be a connection to my Parks family. My GGGgrandfather was Newton Parks, born about 1812 in North Carolina and died 1868, probably in Bell or Coryell County, Texas. (His homestead was on the county line.) His daughter Talitha Parks Brookreson was my GGgrandmother. I have a copy of an article from the Abilene Reporter-News, January 17, 1950, regarding a crew from the Santa Fe Railroad resurfacing a stretch of track between Buffalo Gap and Coleman. It says, "Others of the old and near-old timers here again are...Houston Parks, who has been coming to Buffalo Gap 25 years. Parks is the son of the late Ward Parks who was roadmaster for the Santa Fe in this area several years. The Parkses are related to the Brookreson families here, who came to Taylor County in 1876."

However, I can't seem to make any connection and you confirm that your family does not seem to fit. Talitha did have a younger half-brother Robert Parks, born about 1858, but he would not be the right age.

My guess is that someone at the time the article was written remembered that Talitha's maiden name was Parks and jumped to the wrong conclusion that Ward and Houston Parks must have been related.
