Researching Charles B. UNDERHILL who married Mrs. Martha J. (WOODRUFF) MOORE in Brazoria County, Texas, on 14 March 1842. In 1846 (tax list) and 1850 (census), they were in Galveston County, TX. (Was he the same as the Charles B. UNDERHILL who in 1850 was listed in Sonoma County, CA, on the 1850 census---i. e. listed twice that year?) A C. B. UNDERHILL is listed on the 1860 census for Bosque County, Texas. From the Republic of Texas, on 3 July 1847, he received a grant of 320 acres in what became Uvalde County, Texas. Martha J. WOODRUFF was the daughter of Texas pioneer Baptist minister, John WOODRUFF and wife Rhody (possibly WADE), who settled in Brazoria County in 1831, having previously resided in Maury County, Tennessee. Martha is thus my g-g-g grandaunt. Her sister Sarah Wade (Woodruff) Gill is my g-g-g grandmother.
