I don't know if this will help you.
Benjamin Franklin Cage Sr. was born (unknown) 1814 in Tn. His land donation certificate states he arrived in Tx. in 1832. He fought in the Tx. Rev. at San Jacinto. He was falsely reported as killed in an indian massacre at Leon Creek, near San Antonio. (according to his granddaughter and my gg.grandmother, he was wounded) Becasue of this false report, it took numerous affidavits and witnesses to claim his donation land in Kerr County and over 12 years to get it.

B.J. Cage married Mary A. Cayce Stewert. Think there was an additional marriage for Mary. The marriage liscense in Matagorda County, Tx. (10-April-1846)gives her name as Mary A. Baker.

In 1850, B.J.Cage and family are living in Wharton Co., Tx. He has several Baker chilren living in his household. Next door are the Cayce family.
In 1860, B.J. Cage and family are in DeWitt Co., TX. By 1870 they are in Blanco. B.J. Cage died in 1887, Blanco Co., Tx.
The Geneology Dept. at the Luling Library has information on the Nichols family. You may want to contact them. they are wonderful at helping.
Some of the Nichols family who was related to the Nichols famly of Gonzales co., moved into keer Co where B.F Cage received his donated land. I have wondered what/if any/ the connection was.
The only Nichols line I have looked at are the children of George Washington Nichols who married Mary Ann Walker.
Your line is most probably related!!! They also had a son named Solomn Grundy Nichols. This Solomn fought in the Tx. Rev. He married Martha Hannah Sarah Daniel, daughter of Rev. George Daniel. He died in 1876 in Guadaulpe Co., Tx.
Martha filed for Solomn's Rev. benefits after his death. She died in San Antonio, Bexar Co.about 1900.
