I have a bunch of information about Thomas Llewelyn Thomas. He's way way way up there on my family tree.. lol Also, the records I have say that he died in 1923 and remarried after Ann Lewis died. I'll post what I have...

---

Thomas Llewelyn Thomas was born in Glamorganshire of southern Wales on May 06, 1833, the son of John and Cecylia Thomas. He had five children by his marriage to Ann Lewis, and two sons by his second wife, Hannah.

Because of religious persecution, and after his marriage to Hannah, the family decided to leave their homeland. They departed from upper boat, Llorester, Glamorganshire in Wales at 8AM on September 12, 1879. Hannah gave birth to a son, Thomas Llewelyn Thomas, Jr. during the journey. They arrived at The Port of Galveston, Texas, and a few days later the immigrant Welsh family came to their final destination-- at 10PM on October 18th, 1879. They had traveled to Palestine, Texas. Also making the train ride to the same town were James Cartmell, Sr. and his sister and brother in law. They too had just arrived by boat from England. it is not known why either of these familes selected Palestine in East Texas for their new home.

On August 20, 1889, Tom bought a 102 7/10 acre farm three miles west of town on present route 2, Salt Lake Works road. More land was acquired during the years and as the children became grown they took Anderson County spouses.

The children of Thomas L. and Anne Lewis-Thomas are:
1) John - Born 1857, Died 1929
2) Samuel - Born 1861, Married 1892 to Arta Black, Died 1933
3) Rachel - Born 1863, Married 1891 to Calvin Castel, Died 1943
4) Margaret "Maggie", Married L.C. Ferguson
5) Thomas L Jr. - Born 1879, Married Theresa Chippendale, Died 1956

The 1900 census of Anderson County confirms that the Thomas L. Thomas family had migrated 20 years previously from Wales. Son John was a dairyman, Sam was a nurse at a local hospital, while Tom Jr. was a farmer like his father. Thomas Llewelyn Thomas died September 14, 1923, while Hannah Thomas had already passed away on May 29, 1914. They are buried in Section 1, East Hill Cemetery, in Palestine, Texas. In the same plot are the graves of songs John, Samuel and wife Arta "Missy". Thomas L. Jr and wife Theresa, daughter Rachel and husband are in Section 6.
