Mike-Yes that is the site I refered to in my email. I feel quite sure that the name is wrong. It is "Torbet" according to all the offical records I have found. I searched in this forum because of the "Torbert" info I saw on Family Tree. Someone really did a lot of work on that line.
My mother has helped so much with her family and my dads. I never knew my dad, he died when I was young. I did know my grandmother, Alice Torbet.
I happened on to more info on Thomas Hugh Torbet. Born June 2, 1882, Wills Point, Van Zandt Co., TX. Died Sept. 21, 1959 in Sanger, Fresno Co., CA. Married: Claudia A. Green, not sure when, but probably in Young Co., TX. That is were I found them in the 1900 Census. Two children listed: William Walter Torbet and Ardell D. Torbet. In the SS records I found 3 more children: Hugh James Torbet, Irene Sally Torbet and Leland Thomas Torbet. Do you have any information on Thomas and Claudia Torbet? My mom told me a long time ago they eight children.
Do you know why Mary Elizabeth Torbet Hancock moved to Michigan? What did William Hancock do for a living? My mom met her once when she came to visit from Michigan.
Well, I must go. Please keep in touch!
