I was wondering if anyone could help with information on Shannon's in Tennessee.

I'm trying to track down information on a William Shannon (1812-1890) the son of Thomas Shannon (1780?-1840?); the son of Samuel Shannon(1740?-1800?).

Samuel Shannon: arrives from Ireland in Amherst, Va approx 1760-65 - land grant first recorded 1765. Samuel moved from VA to NC/TN in the 1780's. His son, Thomas Shannon moved from Davidison County TN to Hardin County TN in 1822. I have seen references to letters written by Thomas' father: Samuel Shannon to his son Thomas and the description of the move of Thomas to Saltillo, TN in 1822. I found William's brother Nathan born 1813 but can't find info on William.

My 4*g grandfather was William Shannon (1812-1890) who was born in TN [county unknown] and moved to Alabama about 1835 then to Kemper County, Mississippi about 1839.

What I would like to find out: anyone with information on William: he apparently doesn't appear on Tennessee census' that I could find.

I've been working on this for quite awhile and feel like I'm getting close to confirming or eliminating this William.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Michael
