In the 1900 census I find a family of Lemings from which I descend. Unfortunately, I can not ascertain without a doubt who their parents are. The five children listed are Ella (Louvada), Ethie L. (Ethallone), Jennie M., Cris (Christopher Columbus) and William L. Lemming. In 1900 they are listed with their mother, Mary Leming. By 1910 Ella has married, Ethie has died, Cris and Willie are living with an uncle and aunt, H. M. and Mary Leming. I've found no further information on Jennie since 1900. Ella is my great grandmother; on her death certificate her parents are listed as James Leming and Annie Garrison. I've not been able to connect the H. M. Lemming with a James in this time frame. I'm assuming since the last child was born in February 1900, the his father was still alive in 1899, but I can't find a record of his death. I find a Harris M. Leming on Selected U.S. Federal Census Non-Population Schedules, 1850-1880 in Floyd GA, but I'm not sure if he's the same H. M. Leming. I find a Harris Leming on the 1870 Monroe County, Tennessee census, but he doesn't have a James as a brother. Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated.
