John J. Payne born Jan. 20, 1835/36 in Jackson Co., TN. Married first Nancy R.B. Dill ca. 1856 probably in Jackson Co., TN. Married second Elizabeth F. J. Keith Jan. 3., 1875 in Jackson Co., TN. John died May 15, 1891. John was called an orphan bound boy on Jackson Co., TN court records. He was raised by Rowland C. Dill and his wife Nancy. John inherited property from this childless couple. LDS records state that John J. was the son of James and Mary (Roberson) Payne. James (from family records) was born ca. 1809 in VA and Mary was born ca. 1814 TN (1850 census). The only record found for James is 1836 Tax record for Jackson Co., TN. Mary is listed alone with children on 1840-1850 census. James died or disappeared, going by the age of his son John J., sometime between 1835 - 1840. No other info on James and no real proof of age as the LDS record was a family submitted record. Don't see how they could fit in with your Maude, Moses, but good luck. Carolyn
