Looking for any information on Tibbs. In 1836 150 acres was deeded to Drury Tibbs on the ridge between where John R. Jones lives & Heaths Branch. The geographic description says in White County. There is listed a Tibbs Hollow on the present day topographical maps bordering Dekalb in White County. Does anyone know when and who this was named for, Drury?
In 1840 Drury and John Tibbs are listed as heads of households in district 8 Dekalb County Census.
1850 Smith Tn. Census, South Division.
Household 385 William Tibbs 30 M, Susan 31 F, Martha 12 F, Pleasant 10 M, Jane 7 F, William 4 M, Elizabeth 2 F.
Household 386 Drury Tibbs 29 M, Nancy 30 F, Manerva 13 F, John 17 M, Amziah 5 M, Emaline 4 F, Susan 0 F.
Does anyone know the connection between William and Drury?
1860 Wilson, census in Cherry Valley, Tn. shows the William Tibbs household from above plus four more kids.
1860 Smith Census in Dist 18, Jennings Fork lists Lewis W. Tibbs 48 as tenant, Drury is missing but Nancy, Amziah, Sarah, Susan, Amanda 7 F, Martha 4 F, and Harrison L 1 M.
Does anyone have information on who Lewis Tibbs is and what could have become of Drury? An 1861 Smith County Deeds record shows Drury Tibbs selling a crop of tobacco to Russel Mercer.
In the same 1860 census John Tibbs 27 M, Lucenda 22 F and Nancy E 4 months F. It appears he is the John listed in the 1850 census above with Drury.
The line we are following is Drury and need to make the connections that might allow us to find his parents and siblings. Later it appears some family members moved to Warren County Kentucky which takes us to the present.
