Milton School 1907-'08 ? or Lavergne School 1908-'10?
I recently came across a school photo identified on the back as either Milton 1907-'08 or LaVergne 1908-'10. My great grandfather J Knox Cook, a principal and teacher, and great grandmother Jennie Mai Pettus Cook, a teacher, are easily identified in the photo. There is another teacher, a sterner-looking female, in the photo. Neither this teacher nor any of the students are identified.
J Knox Cook lived wiht his family in LaVergne in 1910 and is identified as the actual census taker of the 3rd Civil District of Rutherford County that year. At that time it appears he may have lived near the railroad tracks in or about downtown LaVergne and (if I read the fading census entry correctly) taught school there.
I am trying to identify where and where the photo was taken. Does anyone know anything about any schools in Milton (near Cannon County) in 1907-'08 or Lavergne (near Davidson County) in 1908-'10?
