Jim:

I just received a copy of an article originally written in 1945 about Ballylooby. The article was republished in the 1996 issue of the Tipperary Historical Journal. The main subject of the 1996 Jorunal was The Famine in South Tipperary.
The article of interest is entitled "The Famine in Ballylooby" and it was written by Tadhg MacCarthaigh who was a teacher at Clogheen NS.
Apparently the Tierney's who left for America in 1851 made an impression on those left behind. They mentioned "Tierneys - one of their children became an American bishop."
The Ballylooby landlords are also mentioned along with the history of the Clogheen workhouse and Whitechurch parish.
