Hi everyone and thank you.. each day brings me one step closer to figuring this out..so thanks
My name is Thomas Kile Tierney, My fathers name is Patrick Kile Tierney, his Fathers Name is Patrick Shelby "hap" Tierney, he was also known as Shelby Patrick. His sisters where Ora, Lorretta, Cozy Mae (not sure on this one) , and a brother named Jack. His Father was Patrick William, brother to Mary, Thomas, Michael and John Gregory Joseph of Missouri (from 1860 Census Records). John Gregory Joseph and his son Patrick William Tierney died working on the hoover dam. Their Father was John Tierney married to Catharine.
I know that John and Catherine arrived in the states somwhere between 1847 and 1854. This is because the census records show that John, Catherine and their first son Patrick were all born in Ireland. It also shows their daughter Mary was born in 1854 in Pennsylvania. There is also a record of a Patrick Tierney in Pennsylvania at this time in a declaration for citizenship, this at the time that Mary would have been born and Patrick would have been 7. I have only seen a reference to this so a copy of the declaration would be great.
What I am trying to find out is if anyone recognizes either John or Catherine and can give me an entry point into the united states. As with all records the research I have done points to either coincidental information, incorrect, or partially incorrect records.
For instance , one record I have found shows a man named John Tierney and an infant child Patrick Tierney arrived in New Orleans La at the right time but no mention of Catharine on the boat. This may be correct and just coincidental or it could be the right people.
Any help is always appreciated.
