I have been putting together a family history for my grandchildren. This includes our section of the Tierney family back to Patrick Tierney from The Moy Co. Tyrone born circa 1803 married to Lovina Lacy. The McAuleys From Aranmore Island Co. Donegal, the Hannigans from Strabane and St. Johnstone and from my mothers side the Walshes and the Hargadons.
My Grandparents told me that the Tierney family split during the 1860's with my Great Grandfather Patrick and his brother Peter leaving Ireland to live and settle with their familys in Scotland while the rest of the brothers and sisters went to Amarica.
I have some great old letters sent back to their parents in Ireland and to the brothers in Scotland from 447 West 36th Street and 401 West 42nd Street New York up to the mid 1870's. These leters were past down to me but unfortunatly I have no idea what happened to the American section of the Family after the letters stoped. What I do believe is that now whoever they are and wherever they are they would love to get to there relations many of whom they can see on the Tierney Family Home Page on FamilyTreeMaker.
Drop off a line if you think you could be decended from our lost New York branch of the Tierneys, John, Lawrence, Mary, Lovina (Livy) and lastly Isabella (Belle) who we know from the letters married a William Harriss and had 4 boys William, John, Francis and Robert.
