I have been searching for information re: my great grandfather Martin Tierney who listed his residence as Boston, MA in the 1880's. Martin was born (gravestone) on Oct. 15, 1855 in Ireland and died in Thurston County, Washington State in 1926. Martin also was married to Elizabeth Doyle at St. Jeans Immaculate Conception Cathedral on November 4, 1880 at St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. I just found a 1885 census of Thurston County which lists Martin, Elizabeth, Cornelia (should have been Cornelius and listed as a boy, not a girl), William and Michael. They are listed as being from Nebraska, but an error was made as they were born in N.B which is New Brunswick, Canada. I also have records copied from the Druoin Collection from Canada verifying the marriage and births of the children. According to the dates, Cornelius was born in 1879, which means that Elizabeth was pregnant before she got married to Martin. I have been wondering whether that was so shameful to her parents that they may have disowned her. I also wrote a church in Boston to see if they were married there (wrote years before) and I just happened to get a smalll certificate stating that they had been married at that catholic church prior to being married later in St. John, New Brunswick. Cornelius's early birth may be the link as to why I can't find more concrete information about them.
I am hoping that someone will remember hearing or reading about them in some family history or bible. I am going to get a copy of the Boston marriage certificate because it did lists both Martin and Elizabeth's parents and residences (Boston and Prince Edward Island). Hope to update on here later.
