I just joined the genforum here in April 2008 so don't know if this enquiry is still being made. I am the grandaughter of a Bridget Tierney Walsh who along with brother Stephen Joseph came to USA in approx. 1890s from County Clare, specifically born in township/rural land area Gurtcurka by Dysert. Bridget was born in Feb. 1868 and had siblings: Patrick b. 1869, Michael 1871, John 1872, Stephen 1873, Mary 1876. Their parents were: Patrick Tierney born 1821 died 1905 and Kate Kinneally (Keneally)(of Mt. Callan Inagh) b approx. 1832 died 1892 and buried in Dysart O'Dea Graveyard. Bridget and Stephen's brother Michael also immigrated to Logan County, Illinois.
Bridget married Patrick Francis Walsh of Co. Kilkenny Ireland in 1899 at St. Patrick's Church Elkhart, Illinois, Logan County. Michael married Patrick Walsh's sister, Catherine "Katie". Stephen married Mary Hagerty (Hegarty) who had come from Co. Clare, near Inagh.
I grew up around my paternal Irish side and they were great folks. Traveled to Ireland in 2000 and again 2007 with cousin Margaret Tierney Lanterman (b. 1914) who is still living in Elkhart, Illinois.
