Hi Dennis

There is no "Census" in Switzerland. Each Canton has its "Staatsarchiv" (archive) hosting church books (typically starting 1580...1650) and some civil registers (from about 1870 on).

The Sttatsarchiv Luzern can be reached under http://www.staatsarchiv.lu.ch/ (or http://www.staatsarchiv.lu.ch/index/english.htm containing an English Summary).

In order to find your ancesters you need to know the town where your ancestors lived (otherwise it will be very hard to find them).

Looking at your former posting, you are probably still looking for Johann Müller born 04-June-1841, son of Peter Müller and Adoisia Furrer. Unfortunately, Müller is a very wide-spread name.

The Register of Swiss Surnames may help you finding the location where your ancestors lived: http://www.hls-dhs-dss.ch/famn/?lg=e . Select the Canton LU (for Luzern). Hope that one of the locations (before 1800 and 19th century) "rings a bell".

Best regards, Dani
