If you look at the 1881 census he is listed as Lorenzo Ruttan, and he is living with his grandparents (Ruttans) and his mother for some reason listed as a McLeod. She was married to a Mcleod (SP??) before she married my ancestor Jacob Switzer in 1874. He was murdered while a circuit rider methodist preacher. McLeod was also murdered in a saloon. Not sure who this James Lorenzo Switzer is though, But this Ruttan sure has had an interesting life. 1901 census has him listed as Lorenzo Switzer. Must be the same person..both born in 1859, both share same mother's name... Good luck, David
