The full source for the birth is Askersund stadsförsamling births/baptisms C:4 (1812-1861) page 59 (for those using Arkiv Digital, AID: v52900.b31.s59). FYI, Askersund has both a city parish (stadsförsamling) and a rural parish (landsförsamling) so in this case it isn't sufficient to just say "Askersund parish". [1829] Febr 3 [birth] 11 [baptism] Anna Sophia Maria [Andersdotter] [parents:] statdr[räng] in Pastorsgarden Anders Andersson & wife Maja Andersdotter [witnesses/godparents:] Hemmansbruk in Ekeberg Nils Andersson & [his] wife Cath.[arina] Hansdotter; the son[?] Anders Nilsson, ibidem; together with the daughter Stina Lisa Sundström[?] in Boda, Askersund parish. 'statdräng' is a kind of laborer. Pastorsgarden is the place the parents live. 'hemmansbruk' is, I think, a farm-based mill or "factory". I would guess the first three witnesses live at this farm/mill located at Ekeberg village. Anders Nilsson is probably the son of Nils Andersson and Catharina Hansdotter. While Stina Lisa seems to have adopted a surname, Sundström, the text implies she is a daughter of Nils and Catharina. 'Boda' is a farm or village in Askersund parish [landsförsamling?]. It's unclear to me whether the baptism witnesses are related to the parents in some way. Perhaps additional research will reveal more. I don't live in Sweden but have acquired a lot of practise at Swedish research. There are plenty of message board helpers, Swede or otherwise, who can help with these sorts of questions. Jeff |
