Harriett, my ggrandmother emigrated from Canton Glarus, Switzerland to New Orleans in 1844 with her parents John and Elizabeth Stauffer/ Staufacker/Staufacher. During an 16 week crossing on a sailing ship, two brothers died and were buried at sea. Seeking their port of departure, name of ship and location in the 1850 US Census. She married George N. Fisher on 9 Nov,1851 in Hancock County, IL
