Dear Mr. Karunanayake,
Again I am replying to an old message from you where you are guessing about the date of the death of the second James Blackett of Pen-Y-Lan etc. He actually died in Aberdeen, Scotland 04-10-1893 but there is no will published here in the U.K. so it may have been published in Ceylon.
Walter Scott Blackett inherited the estates from James Blackett and was a great friend of my Grandfather (Robert Wilson) who married his sister Alice on 22nd. April. 1896 and he must have purchased Meddegodda from Walter in 1898/99 or been given the estate as part of his marriage to Alice. We of course sold the estate in 1954 to old man Thondaman. My grandfather died in 1952 and I am hoping that there may have been an Obituary in the newspapers but possibly not at that time.
There was another Robert Wilson, not immediately related who was also from Scotland and planted at Matale.
