Dear Robert
From the info you supplied it would appear that if James B Snr was born in Colombo in 1808 his father would have been in the military forces around Colombo - the British having arrived in Ceylon in 1896 and annexing the whole island in 1815.The Ceylon Roll of Honour is a complete record of service in WW1 and there is no mention of Douglas Wilson there. The only Wilsons listed there who were killed in the war were AF ex George Steuart and G Creighton Wilson of the Times of Ceylon.I wonder whether Douglas had another name which may have been used in the R of H as the records there are meticulous.I will look for more info on the matters listed by you and should there be anything of interest will revert. BTW I am in Sydney but own a very extensive "Ceylon" library and I am always happy to help out with information when I can
Regards
Hugh
