LOOKING FOR ANY INFO ON GEORGE H ELLIS, the only casulty of the battle of santiago of american sailors. He served aboard the USS BROOKLYN, He was killed when a shell decapitated him, while he was relaying range information on the spainish flag ship. I believe he was born in 1874 in pepria Ill, and he was married, and had one child, and lived in Brooklyn Ny. He had served in the navy, was discharged, and then re-enlisted. Capt Evans of the Brooklyn left a accurate account of his death. would like any other info on him, or his decendents.
