Hi Carolyn, Yes, you are right William did come back here to PA and assisted in organizing and served as captain of Company B, Pennsylvania National Gaurd. I have called several times to our National Gaurd now and with no luck have not been able to track down Company B. I do know that William had moved to Philadelphia where he was employed with the mounted police department then later served as a tipstaff in the state superior court. At time of death(July 31, 1943) he worked as a cheif clerk of the procurement division of the quartermaster depot. I also know that he had a son William H Maclay that served in the service to(dont know anything about him though) also had 2 daughter that were still living at home. |
